George Hurst is probably best known
for his creation of the Hurst Shifter, which is known for its
popularity in most of the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. George is
also popular for the "Hurst Oldsmobile." He is the only person outside
of the G.M. family to have a car named after him and manufactured by
G.M. One of his most notable inventions was the "Jaws of Life," which
he
developed and has been responsible for
saving hundreds of human lives. George also invented the two stage door
hinge, which we use every day in our vehicles, along with the change
lane turn signal, and many other user friendly inventions. The George
Hurst Level Winder was George's last invention before his death in
1986. His continual commitment to safety gives the GHLW this safety
aspect along with the ability to operate your winch in areas you never
could before.
